I like to demonstrate for my students how I might do the assignments I give. When I show my example to the students, I stress the idea that this is ONE way to do it, and that I try lots of ways to do things–because I’m always trying to improve, move forward, learn more. The slide show below demonstrates the way I read the nonfiction narrative I assigned in IB Literature–this time. This summer when I was at the EMWP writer’s retreat, another teacher asked to see my notebook, and she even took photos of it. That gave me the idea to share my reader’s notebook, in case it might help other teachers think about how they want students to interact with the texts they read.
