Local Love: A3 Resident Coalition

Posted on February 14, 2020

20200211_091831I used to live on the East Side of Adrian. It was where I bought my first house, and I loved living there. My son had a 1-minute walk to school at Drager Middle, and I could walk or bicycle the 3 miles to work when the weather was nice.

Unfortunately, my former home is now a hazard as it was recently torched. It makes me sad. It was a beautiful home for my family and me.

I haven’t lived there since the early 2000s, but I’ll always consider the neighborhood “home” and want to see it thrive, so I joined the All About Adrian (A3) Resident Coalition.

I’ve attended a few Coalition meetings now, and I am impressed. Headed by D’Angelo Boone, the Coalition is doing a lot of work to embody their motto, “Building a better community for all.” The residents are working on improving the community on many fronts, from bringing in better street lighting, to helping residents access services, to offering a summer series of Literacy events in the park. Coalition members are reaching out to other community organizations and building good working relationships with them to bring information and services to residents. As things gear up for the 2020 Census and election season, the Coalition is joining the efforts to make sure EVERYONE gets counted in the community and at the ballot box.

The Coalition hosts a social gathering on the 2nd Friday of the month. If the weather’s nice, it’s held outside in the park, but during the cold winter months, the gathering happens at The Daily Bread.

Today is Valentine’s Day. I invite you, local reader, to come out and share the LOVE with the A3 Resident Coalition and folks from around the area. See you there! Peace & Love!
